We advance our understanding of how blind and low-vision children engage in creative storytelling and how multimodal AI can support their self-expression. Our findings challenge the assumption that visual representations are only meaningful to those who can see: even children who have had no usable vision since birth care deeply about the visual details of their imagined worlds and how those details are represented. We highlight new opportunities for designing more inclusive AI systems that go beyond simply making visual content accessible, toward empowering blind and low-vision children to create, shape, and share visual content on their own terms.
