Makeability Lab collaborator Venkatesh Potluri successfully passed his PhD defense yesterday with a dissertation entitled "A Paradigm Shift in Nonvisual Programming", which includes new data-driven studies of the accessibility of programming tools like Jupyter Notebook as well as new accessible programming tools PSST (for sonifying sensor data) and UITap for accessible web design (ASSETS'19, CHI'21) —the latter which we worked on together during his initial years as a PhD student.
I was honored to serve on Venkatesh's dissertation committee along with his advisor Professor Jen Mankoff and other committee members Shaun Kane (Google) and Professor Amy Ko.
Congrats Venkatesh!
